China Intelligent Electric Vehicle (CIEV) and Baic Foton Group Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On May 27, 2025, Wang Chen, Chairman of CIEV, Geng Chongqing, Vice President, and Liu Chumeng, Director of the Overseas Business Department, were invited to visit the Beijing headquarters of Baic Foton Group. CIEV and Baic Foton Group have signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on the development and export services of overseas markets such as the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, covering areas such as new car exports, used car refurbishment, and SKD in overseas markets. The two parties also discussed in-depth cooperation in global market expansion, technological innovation, and the future of new energy commercial vehicles. Wang Shuhai, Deputy General Manager of Baic Foton Group, Zhang Xiaosheng, Vice President of Business and General Manager of the Business Department, Deng Luhua, Executive Deputy Director of Baic Foton Marketing Corporation, Fu Lei, Deputy General Manager of the Business Department of Baic Foton, and Li Jinghao, General Manager of the Yungui Marketing Center of Baic Foton, attended the signing event.

Baic Foton Motor Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Baic Foton) was established in 1996 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1998. It stands as the largest commercial vehicle enterprise in China, offering the most comprehensive range of products. Its offerings encompass medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, multi-purpose commercial vehicles, light and mini-commercial vehicles, as well as unmanned last-mile delivery services. These cover micro-vehicles, medium and light trucks, engineering vehicles, special-purpose vehicles, and more. In 2021, it marked a milestone as the first commercial vehicle enterprise in China’s automotive industry to achieve sales exceeding 10 million units, and also became the first to attain “dual-independence” at this milestone. For 20 consecutive years, it has led the sales rankings in China’s commercial vehicle industry, and for 14 consecutive years, it has topped the commercial vehicle export charts, with its products reaching 130 countries and regions worldwide.

China Intelligent Electric Vehicles (CIEV), formerly known as MMIAUTO, was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Shanghai. It is among the first five pilot enterprises in Yunnan approved by the Ministry of Commerce for automobile export, and also co-operates with the China (Kunming) Automobile Export Industrial Base targeting South Asia and Southeast Asia. Based in Shanghai and Yunnan, CIEV has established eight global operation centers and set up branches in regions and countries such as Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Ethiopia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Côte d’Ivoire. Additionally, it has obtained overseas agency rights for multiple domestic automobile brands.

The CIEV, positioned as a global digital automotive trading and service platform, is committed to “facilitating the rapid global expansion of Chinese automotive brands”. In recent years, it has successfully established mature and stable export service channels for domestic automobiles in regions including Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, as well as West Asia and the Middle East.
